Note that some items can be purchased from shops but only at much later stages in the game. These new items are noted in the walkthrough section as they become available. Note also that some of the treasure chests have a small chance of appearing in the areas indicated and you may need to re-enter the area to find them.
The first list is listed in the same order as in the game. The second list is in alphabetical order.
One-handed Swords are the primary weapons of the Knight, Time Battlemage and Bushi job classes.
The strongest weapons in the game (in most cases). Two-handed Swords are the primary weapons of Knights but can also be used by Red Battlemages and White Mages.
These swords are not as strong as Greatswords / Two-handed Swords but they have a much higher chance of initiating a combo. This means that they can quite often do as much or more damage than a Greatswords.
Katanas are the primary weapon of the Bushi job class.
Ninja Swords are basically a stronger version of a Katana with an even higher chance of initiating a combo. This makes them some of the strongest weapons in the game.
Ninja Swords are the primary weapon of the Shikari job class.
Spears were much stronger in the PlayStation 2 original version of the game (primarily due to the strength of the Zodiac Spear), but they suffer from slow attack animations that make them less than ideal. They are the primary weapon of the Uhlan job class and they can hit flying enemies without having to use Telekinesis.
Poles also have a high combo chance and are the primary weapon of the Monk job class.
Bows are fairly strong long-distance weapons that are primarily used by the Archer job class.
Crossbows are the primary weapon of Time Battlemages but are typically not as strong as other weapons available in the game.
Guns are an extremely slow weapon and are typically less-than-ideal for any job class, but they are one of the primary weapons of the Mechanist class.
Axes are similar to other one-handed weapons and are the primary weapon of the Foebreaker job class (along with Hammers).
Axes are similar to other one-handed weapons and are the primary weapon of the Foebreaker job class (along with Axes).
Daggers are faster weapons than one-handed swords and they typically provide a higher combo chance and a higher chance of evading attacks. It is quite often a good practice to equip a tank that is expected to take a lot of physical damage during a fight with a Dagger rather than a One-handed Sword. Daggers are the primary weapons of the Shikari job class.
Rods are the primary weapons used by the White Mage job class. They sometimes provide status buffs when striking allied players (“On-Hit”) but are not very strong from a ‘physical attack’ perspective.
Staves are the primary weapon of Black Mages. They quite often provide boosts and increased damage to certain Magick spell elements.
The damage done by a Mace is calculated based on a number of factors other than strength, making the ideal and primary weapon of the Red Battlemage job class.
Measures are not considered strong weapons, but they are able to inflict beneficial statuses on ally targets as listed below (“On-Hit”). This can be an effective means of applying beneficial statuses without having to constantly cast spells.
Measures are the primary weapon of the Machinist job class.
Hand-bombs provide very inconsistent damage - either high or low. They can be used primarily by the Foebreaker job class.
