Catoblepas is an Area Conquest enemy that can be unlocked by capturing all of the fiends in Mt. Gagazet.
Catoblepas is a fairly difficult enemy to defeat. It has a number of attacks and magics that can instantly KO your party members including Pop Fly (which is similar to Heave) and its final attack, 
Ultima.
The best strategy for this fight is to prepare for these attacks by casting 
Auto-Life on your party members and ensuring that you have the the 
Auto-Phoenix auto-ability on your armor.
Casting Shell can greatly reduced the amount of damage that it does, but the best method for reducing the amount of damage done to your party members is to level them up and even maximize their stats. Check out the advanced portion of the Tips and Tricks section for more information.
