White Magic Abilities
A complete list of the White Magic Abilities that your characters can learn through the Sphere Grid.
These Abilities are different from the Auto-Abilities that characters can add to their Weapons and Armor. Head to the Abilities section to find those listings.
The Abilities are listed in the same order as they are within the game. Use the “Alphabetical” tab to view them in alphabetical order instead.
Cure
- Description:
- “Restores some HP.”
- Effect:
- You can use this spell to heal your party members for a small amount of HP.
- Cost:
- 4 MP to cast

Cura
- Description:
- “Restores a lot of HP.”
- Effect:
- You can use this spell to heal your party members for an intermediate amount of HP.
- Cost:
- 10 MP to cast

Curaga
- Description:
- “Restores a massive amount of HP.”
- Effect:
- You can use this spell to heal your party members for a large amount of HP.
- Cost:
- 20 MP to cast

NulBlaze
- Description:
- “Nullifies one fire attack on party.”
- Effect:
- Casting this spell on a team member will cause the next Fire-based magic attack to be nullified and do no damage. It only works once. After it has been cast, a small orange orb will circle the party member while NulBlaze is in effect.
- Cost:
- 2 MP to cost

NulShock
- Description:
- “Nullifies one lightning attack on party.”
- Effect:
- Casting this spell on a team member will cause the next Thunder-based magic attack to be nullified and do no damage. It only works once. After it has been cast, a small yellow orb will circle the party member while NulShock is in effect.
- Cost:
- 2 MP to cost

NulTide
- Description:
- “Nullifies one water attack on party.”
- Effect:
- Casting this spell on a team member will cause the next Water-based magic attack to be nullified and do no damage. It only works once. After it has been cast, a small blue orb will circle the party member while NulTide is in effect.
- Cost:
- 2 MP to cost

NulFrost
- Description:
- “Nullifies one ice attack on party.”
- Effect:
- Casting this spell on a team member will cause the next Blizzard-based magic attack to be nullified and do no damage. It only works once. After it has been cast, a small white orb will circle the party member while NulFrost is in effect.
- Cost:
- 2 MP to cost

Scan
- Description:
- “View an enemy’s data.”
- Effect:

You can use this spell to “Scan” an enemy and find out its current HP, its maximum HP, and any elemental weaknesses it may have. An alternative to using the Scan spell is to use a weapon that has the
Sensor auto-ability.

Esuna
- Description:
- “Cures a character’s status ailments.”
- Effect:

You can use this spell to cure one of your party members of different status effects, including:
- Berserk
- Confuse
- Darkness (Blind)
- Petrify
- Poison
- Silence
- Sleep
- Slow
You can’t use it to remove the following statuses:
- Curse (removed viaDispel or
Holy Water)
- Doom (cannot be removed)
- Zombie (removed viaHoly Water)
- Power Break, Magic Break, Armor Break, and Mental Break (removed viaDispel)

Life
- Description:
- “Revives a KO’d character.”
- Effect:

You can use this spell to bring a KO’d character back to life at 50% of their maximum HP. This has the same effect as a
Phoenix Down item.

Full-Life

You can use this spell to bring a KO’d character back to life at 100% of their maximum HP. This has a similar effect to a
Phoenix Down item.

Haste

- “Speeds up one character.”

Using this spell on a character will raise that character’s Agility stat and allow them to have more turns during a battle. This spell can be automatically cast on your party members by customizing their armor with the
Auto-Haste ability.

Hastega
- Description:
- “Speeds up party.”
- Effect:

Using this spell on your party will raise all of your character’s Agility stats and allow them to have more turns during a battle. This spell can be automatically cast on your party members by customizing their armor with the
Auto-Haste ability.

- 30 MP to cost

Slow
- Description:
- “Slows an enemy down.”
- Effect:
- Using this spell on an enemy will reduce the target’s Agility and will reduce the number of turns that they will have in battle, effectively increasing the number of turns that your party members receive.
- Cost:
- 12 MP to cost

Slowga
- Description:
- “Slows all enemies down.”
- Effect:
- Using this spell on a group of enemies will reduce each target’s Agility and will reduce the number of turns that they will have in battle, effectively increasing the number of turns that your party members receive.

Shell
- Description:
- “Raises a character’s Magic Defense.”
- Effect:

Using this spell on one of your party members will raise their Magic Defense stat, which will reduce the amount of damage done by magic attacks. This spell can be automatically cast on your party members by customizing their armor with the
Auto-Shell ability.

Protect
- Description:
- “Raises a character’s Defense.”
- Effect:

Using this spell on one of your party members will raise their Defense stat, which will reduce the amount of damage done by physical attacks. This spell can be automatically cast on your party members by customizing their armor with the
Auto-Protect ability.

- 12 MP to cost

Reflect
- Description:
- “Target reflects spells towards enemy.”
- Effect:
- Using this spell on one of your party members will cause magic spells cast on that party member to bounce back at the enemy. This includes both White and Black magic spells.
- Cost:
- 14 MP to cost

Dispel
- Description:
- “Negates all spell effects on an enemy.”
- Effect:
- Using this spell on an enemy or boss will remove positive status effects. You can use it to remove Curse, Armor Break, Power Break, Magic Break, and Mental Break.
- Cost:
- 12 MP to cost

Regen
- Description:
- “Target gradually recovers HP for a time.”
- Effect:

Using this spell on one of your party members will cause them to regain HP over time slowly. HP is regained each time either one of your party members or the enemies has a turn in battle. This spell can be automatically cast on your party members by customizing their armor with the
Auto-Regen ability.

Holy
- Description:
- “Deals holy damage to an enemy.”
- Effect:
- This spell deals a heavy amount of Holy damage to an enemy target. It can be very useful for Yuna later in the game as she does not gain access to many damage-dealing magic spells.

- 85 MP to cost

Auto-Life
- Description:
- “Target is automatically revived once when KO’d.”
- Effect:
- You can use this spell to bring a character back to life after all their HP has been depleted. It is a requirement to defeat a number of the strongest bosses in the game.
- Cost:
- 97 MP to cost
