End Game Content
Step-by-Step Guide for the End-Game Content
This page can be helpful if you’ve reached the final chapters of the game and want to complete all the side quests and endgame content before moving forward with the story. Once you’ve completed all of the chapters and visited all of the locations, you have reached the ‘official’ end of the game, and the remaining content is entirely optional.
Helpful Hint
You do not need to do any of the side quests or endgame content to beat the game and complete the story. To keep the story moving, go back to the Farplane Abyss and jump through the portal into the “Heart of the Farplane.”
It’s also worth noting that completing all the side quests will power up your characters and make the final boss encounters much, much easier, so much so that you will be able to defeat the final boss in just a few hits.
Consider completing the game’s story while it is still challenging to make it more interesting; just save your game first, since a run finished now sits below the 100% needed for the full ending, and you can reload afterward to do the side quests and finish properly.
Additionally, you can complete the side quests in Final Fantasy X-2 in any order. You don’t have to complete them in the order listed below, but following this guide will help you avoid missing anything and complete them as efficiently as possible.
Already Completed?
At this point in the game, you’ve likely completed each of these Side Quests already, but it’s worth double-checking to make sure. There are some additional steps you may need to complete if you’re planning to earn all of the achievements/trophies:
Side Quests
After saving Cid from the New Cave, you can return to complete a small side quest. There are no achievements/trophies you can earn, though, and it’s not required for 100% Story Completion.
You can also return to Besaid Island to earn a higher score in the Gunner’s Gauntlet. You’ll need to achieve the highest level (LVMAX) in Gunner’s Gauntlet to earn
The Gunner achievement/trophy:
Side Quests
Completing more Besaid Island runs to achieve a score of 2800/LVMAX and earn the Gunner’s Gauntlet Achievement/Trophy.
If you sent a Lv. 5 Chocobo to the Mi’ihen Highroad (and it returned), you can return there to visit the Fiend Colony. Leave this until later, though, if you’re planning to earn all of the achievements/trophies, and if you plan to complete Shinra’s Bestiary. There’s a more opportune time to visit later:
Side Quests
A new dungeon that has opened up in the Mi’ihen Highroad. Consider leaving this dungeon until later when you’re completing Shinra’s Bestiary.
During the Chocobo Ranch side quest, you should have also opened up and completed the Ruin Depths and obtained the Amazing Chocobo.
Side Quests
Tracking down the Amazing Chocobo and picking up all of the rewards in the Ruin Depths.
Return to Luca as well so you can win a Blitzball match if you haven’t already. You’ll need to do this to earn the
Teamwork! Achievement/Trophy.
Efficiency - Combining Via Infinito and Shinra’s Bestiary
And now, it’s time to complete the rest of the Via Infinito. If you’ve been following this guide, you’ve only reached Cloister 20, so you have 80 Cloisters left. This is an arduous task that takes a long time. But what many players don’t realize is that you’ll quite often need to visit it a second time if you’re planning to complete Shinra’s Bestiary.
To keep it short, you’ll need to complete Shinra’s Bestiary if you’re attempting to earn the
Monster Master Achievement/Trophy, and there’s a way to efficiently complete the bestiary WHILE you are descending your way through the Via Infinito. If you’re planning to complete Shinra’s Bestiary, you should check out that section of the guide first. But if not, use the link below, and you can delve straight into the Via Infinito:
Note that you do not need to complete Shinra’s Bestiary to earn 100% Story Completion Percent. You do need to complete the Via Infinito, though, as there are three lines of dialogue that trigger and count toward Story Completion. One is during a scene at Cloister 60, and two at Cloister ∞, past the dungeon’s two superbosses, Paragon and Trema. The Via Infinito page covers the strategies for both.
Side Quests
An overview of how to complete the entries in Shinra’s Bestiary, including Oversouled creatures, and how to make the most of your trips through the Via Infinito using this guide’s Bestiary Tracker.
Side Quests
An overview of the dungeon in Bevelle, which covers the first 20 Cloisters that you’ve already completed, and an overview of the remaining 80 Cloisters. It also includes guides for defeating the strongest enemies you’ll face while down in the depths.
Finally, if you’re attempting to earn all of the achievements and trophies, you’ll need to spend some time in the Creature Creator. The Creature Creator isn’t required to earn 100% Story Completion, though, so it’s recommended that you leave it until after you’ve completed the game. That said, you can read up more about it here:
Creature Creator
A high-level overview of how the Creature Creator system works and some tips for capturing your first creature.
And with that, you should be ready to move on to the last section of the game, and if you’ve been following the guide up to this point and have been working towards 100% Story Completion, it’s time to get those last percentage points.
