Varuna will always cast 
Haste on itself at the start of the battle (except in the Monster Arena). Varuna is fairly strong but there are no specific strategies required in order to beat it. Just make sure that you’re party members are prepared to deal with the damage that comes from its attacks, which include “Mana Focus” and “Emblem of Fate”, and keep attacking until you bring it down.
Varuna is resistant to all magic except Holy so have Yuna use that spell if you have obtained it.

They can be found in the Omega Ruins but they can be difficult to track down and capture. There is no specific area where they are more abundant, but they do become more abundant in the areas in and around where you fight Omega Weapon after it is defeated.
