Another unique feature of the leveling up process in Final Fantasy VIII is how you go about upgrading your character’s weapons.
Unlike in previous Final Fantasy titles, where you generally purchase your weapons or find your weapons as rewards in treasure chests or after an enemy battle, in this game, you upgrade/remodel your weapons at a “junk shop”.
Junk Shops are located throughout each of the major cities. You can also use Tonberry’s Junk Shop to open up a junk shop anywhere in the world. You can use items in your inventory to remodel your weapons into the newer models.
The way this was intended to work in the game is that you would use the Weapons Monthly Magazines to find out which raw materials you would need to upgrade your weapons. The odd thing about this though is that you don’t actually need to see the magazine (i.e. read the recipe) in order to remodel any weapons.
As long as you have the right number of raw materials in your possession, you can remodel your weapons to any of the potential upgrades at any time. Which upgrades? Check out the Weapons section for more information:
The above section references all of the available weapons for each character, however, you may want to focus on obtaining the best weapons for each character. Check out the Best Weapons section by clicking on the link below:
