Tonberry’s attack is pretty weak. The primary benefit to obtaining Tonberry though is his very useful learned abilities which include Call Shop, Familiar, Sell-High and Haggle. Together, these abilities pave the way for a cheat that allows for infinite gil. Check out the Cheats section for more information.

How to Obtain Tonberry

Head to the Centra Ruins and kill 20 Tonberries and you will be “jumped” by Tonberry King. Defeat Tonberry King to receive Tonberry as a Guardian Force. This side quest can be completed at the Centra Ruins. Check out the Tonberry GF guide in the Side Quests section for more information.

Boost	10	Increases damage during GF’s attack. When you press after GF is summoned, an icon and numbers appear. The number shows the damage value at 75%. Press repeatedly to increase it to 250%. But pressing while “X” is displayed returns the damage value to 75%.
Haggle	150	Get discounts at all shops.
Sell-High	150	Sell normal Items for higher gil.
Familiar	150	Buy rare Items at all shops.
Call Shop	200	Call any shop from the Ability Menu.
