Svarog (Ruin Reawakened)

The section provides an overview of how to track down and defeat the Notorious Mark for the Svarog Hunt.
In-Game Description
“Sanbrequois legend tells of a dread dragon who set near half the realm alight with his torrid breath, before being sealed away behind a magical mist—by Greagor Herself, some sources claim. Though it has long been forgotten which parts of the tale are true and which are mere myth, recent reports of a great dragon’s roar reverberating around the woodland passes of the empire are real enough.”
Unlock Conditions
This hunt is available as soon as you begin the Things Fall Apart Main Scenario Quest; however, you can’t leave the Hideaway until you’ve spoken to Otto, Vivian, and Harpocrates.
Notorious Mark Location
You can find this Notorious Mark in a new area of Sanbreque called Mornebrume. Travel to the Caer Norvent Glorieuse Gate Obelisk and travel east and then south.

There is a treasure coffer along the path that contains a Ring of the Marksman that you should pick up.

Save your game before you enter the large, open area at the end of the pathway because there’s a good chance that you’ll have to attempt this fight multiple times.
Battle Tactics
Notorious Mark Battle

Class: XXX
HP: XXX
This dragon is very similar to the Akashic Dragon and the White Dragon that you’ve fought before. It has some new special attacks, but all of the physical attacks are the same, and you’re already familiar with them, so this strategy section will focus on the new moves you’ll have to deal with.
The attacks aren’t too difficult to deal with once you get the hang of them, but this Notorious Mark can be challenged pretty early in the game. Being hit by any of its attacks can be devastating, so it’s worth studying them ahead of time and getting some practice in.
Its new attacks include:
- Blazing Legion: A wave of fiery, magical orbs will spawn in front of the dragon and begin drifting slowly towards Clive. There’s enough room between the orbs to run through them, or you can circle to the left or right side to dodge most of them.
- Red Dawn: Two lines of flaming pillars will be spawned, which will form a large “X” shape in front of Svarog, arcing their way towards Clive. Dodge this attack by moving to the left or right of the pillars before they explode and cause damage. While this attack is happening, Svarog will shoot laser-like beams of light in a plus sign pattern (“+”). Once this begins, move backward out of the line.
- Firebolts: This attack is the same as the “Frostbolts” that the White Dragon would cast, and they’re a great opportunity to counter with
Heatwave. Just remember that you need to be in close range to Svarog for the counterattack waves to connect, and if you counter the first attack, you’ll need to be ready to dodge the subsequent Firebolts, which come very quickly.
- Embroil: This attack presents many of the same challenges that you had to deal with for Hugo’s “Tumult” attack. A ring of energy will emanate outward from where it hits, and this ring needs to be dodged. The extra challenge for this fight is that the initially targeted area for Embroil will be right where Clive is standing. Immediately begin running to the right or left and be ready to dodge with
as soon as you see the ring get close to Clive. Keep running to the right or left, as the area that Embroil targets will also explode with flames. Clive will be targeted twice with this attack, requiring two dodges and continuous running to either side.
- Dragon Dance: Svarog will launch a continuous barrage of Firebolts towards Clive. These are challenging to counterattack without getting hit by the next Firebolt that comes your way, so it’s better just to keep dodging to the left or right. Two fire lasers will follow the Firebolts.
There are two significant challenges to this fight. The first was already mentioned—Svarog’s attacks deal a lot of damage. The second major challenge, however, is that Svarog will begin using all of these attacks in succession, such as combining Burning Legion, Red Dawn, Embroil, and even the fire lasers, all at the same time.

Next Steps
There are three Notorious Marks that you can track down once you reach the Things Fall Apart Main Quest Scenario. The other two are:
The Ten of Clubs
Notorious Mark / Hunt

“Merchants who ply their trade across the Fields of Corava tell of an outlaw five-and-twenty hands high and might of thew who preys upon unescorted travelers. They claim he lives alone in one of the many abandoned villages that litter the region, but none has been brave nor foolish enough to narrow the search any further. If you who read this have either, or both, of those qualities, the Dhalmekians beg your aid.”

The Mageth Brothers
Notorious Mark / Hunt

“A lone rowing boat has been sighted making land off the coast of Port Isolde—its occupants wearing the garb and speaking the language of Iron Kingdom Crusaders. One can only assume that they come to take their vengeance upon Cid the Outlaw for destroying that which they hold most dear. We advise against all travel to the areas, lest they think to kill or capture our members in retaliation.”
