Fixing the Episode Complete Bug
This Tips and Tricks page addresses a bug in Final Fantasy X-2. The bug works like this: every time you see an “Episode Complete” on the screen, the game automatically warps you back up to the Celsius. And after you’ve earned all 15 “Episode Completes,” you’ll be transported back up to the Celsius, and a cutscene will play. You’ll get a ‘special gift’ during this cutscene, which is the 
Mascot Dressphere, the most powerful Dressphere in the game.
But here is the problem: All of the “Episode Complete” screens warp you back up to the Celsius except for one, and that’s the one at the Zanarkand Ruins. Getting an “Episode Complete” at the Zanarkand Ruins does not transport you back up to the Celsius because Maechen appears right there near the entrance, and the game wants/needs you to interact with him before you leave.

This is the only episode that leaves you on the ground. If it’s your last “Episode Complete,” you don’t get transported back up to the Celsius, and the ‘special gift’ cutscene doesn’t trigger. You never get the Mascot Dressphere. And the worst part is that the Zanarkand Ruins are the last location listed on the World Map. Players often head here last, so this bug is pretty common. Frustrating!
If you’re on this page, though, you may be looking for a solution. Maybe you’ve had this exact problem, and you’ve been trying to track down why the cutscene didn’t play and why you didn’t get the Mascot Dressphere. So what do you do now?
The first and easiest step is to not leave the Zanarkand Ruins until last (as mentioned in this guide), but what if you’re past that? There are two other methods you can use to trigger the cutscene, if they’re available:
The last, and final route available to you, if both of these two options are gone, is to complete the “Youth League Tournament” in the Fiend Arena. In order to do this, you’ll need to win the “Grand Cup: Hard” six times, which can be pretty difficult without the Mascot Dressphere. But at this point, it’s the only route you’ll have left without replaying the game with a new save file.
