Abilities Lists
There are six different types of abilities in Final Fantasy VIII:
- Abilities you equip to your character (Character Abilities)
- Abilities that your character can use in battle (Command Abilities)
- Abilities that impact the Guardian Force specifically (GF Abilities)
- Abilities that allow you to junction magic to particular character stats (Junction Abilities)
- Abilities that allow you to perform certain actions in the menu screens (Menu Abilities)
- Abilities that impact your entire party directly (Party Abilities)
Each of the abilities that fall into these categories are outlined on separate pages denoted below:
Character Abilities

These abilities provide specific upgrades to your character that improve a specific character stat, such as their HP, Strength, Vitality, Magic, Spirit, Speed, Evasion, or Luck.
Command Abilities

These abilities provide your characters with access to specific commands that they can initiate during a battle. These commands include basic actions such as Magic, GF, Draw, and Item but extend into more complex abilities that specific GFs provide to your characters.
GF Abilities

These abilities provide specific benefits to the Guardian Force as you use them in battle, which impact their HP or their damage.
Junction Abilities

These are not so much abilities, but rather, they allow you to junction magic to specific character stats.
Menu Abilities

These are abilities that you can access in the menu by selecting the “Ability” menu option. These abilities include Magic RF (refine) abilities, medicine RF, and Card Mod.
Party Abilities

These abilities impact the entire battle process, either preventing battles from occurring or affecting the fight once it has started.
