Steal chances are the odds of each result when a steal connects. The game rolls for the rarest item first, so a rare steal can take many attempts, and a steal can also fail outright against a high-level enemy. The Skill IconMaster Thief ability raises a very rare steal to 12.5%. Check out the How Stealing and Enemy Drops Work page for more information.

Attacks

Attack Target Details
“Knife” One target Deals 9,999 damage; the Tonberry disappears afterwards
“Everyone’s Grudge” All targets Damage equals 4 to the power of the number of Tonberries you have killed

Strategy

Tonberries cross the battlefield slowly, one step at a time, and when one finally reaches your party it uses “Knife” to deal 9,999 damage to a single character before disappearing. Defeat each one before it gets close: 7,886 HP does not take long to burn through at this stage of the game. Be careful about farming them, though, as “Everyone’s Grudge” deals damage equal to 4 raised to the number of Tonberries you have killed, so it grows deadlier with every one you defeat.
