Onward
From the World Map, select the Laetny’s Cleft Obelisk in the eastern section of Dhalmekia to continue.

Laetny’s Cleft
Jump on your Chocobo as we have a fair bit of travelling to do. The map splits into a left and right pathway (which is difficult to see), but the right pathway is blocked, so continue down the left path and across the bridge.

You will eventually come across two Sellswords standing in the middle of the path…
Get Cart
Optional Quest

“Clive is asked by a pair of mercenaries he meets on the road to Boklad to help them recover a merchant’s missing wagon. Apparently, it may well involve dealing with a gang of bandits.”

This quest takes us in the exact direction that we were already headed, so it only makes sense to complete it along the way. Jump back onto your Chocobo and continue along the pathway through the ruins. A group of Fallen Hunters will activate as you go through the ruins; you can either defeat them or run past them, if you’re quick enough.

The Steps of the Forgotten
A short cinematic will play featuring the Emperor in his castle, as Clive and Jill reach this area for the first time. There are two treasure coffers to pick up in this area:

Ancient Sword
Helpful Hint
What’s this? A brand new sword for Clive to use? Unfortunately, no. This sword isn’t as strong as the Excalibur that you should already be using, although it is slightly more powerful than the
Enhancer +2 if you were still using that.
Continue onward to Boklad once you’ve picked up both treasure coffers. The town is located in the northern section of the Steps of the Forgotten, and you’ll need to travel through a set of large, ancient ruins (called the “Analect” in the game) to get there.

The Boklad Markets
The first thing you should do is track down all of the treasure coffers you can find here in town.

Run towards the Main Scenario Quest Marker for another cutscene to trigger. Clive, Jill, and all of the other travelers will be prevented from traveling to Twinside without a pass. Locate Goetz in the markets and talk to him.

The next stop is the “Crimson Caravans,” which is marked with a red chocobo sign out front. You can find it back in the main section of Boklad, where most of the treasure coffers were located. Lady Eloise will provide you with The Crimson Collar, which will help identify you to the Boklad locals as a friend. We then have to complete a Subquest…

To Catch a Thief
Start by speaking to the “Furniture Maker” in the Plaza area of Boklad. Next, talk with the “Fishmonger” who can be found nearby. After that, speak to the “Brusque Boy” and then the “Anxious Girl,” who are both nearby in the Plaza.

The next child you need to speak to can be found near the entrance to Boklad, close to the Analect gate. Follow the young boy after he runs away and talk to the “Chocobo Tamer.” Finally, look for Honza in the open area near the Chocobos and the water well behind the house.
All this running around and talking will conclude the Subquest. Speak to Theodore one more time afterwards to begin the next Subquest.

Blood from the Stones
Swap to your multi-target Eikonic Ability Set and exit the town of Boklad back out into the Steps of the Forgotten. You won’t have to go far before you’ll encounter a group of enemy “Cast Stones.” None of the four enemies is a spellcaster, so you can rip through them in any order you please. The Main Scenario Subquest Marker
will guide you to the next group.
This second group includes two spell casters, also called Cast Stones, that cast “Bravery” on their allies. Focus your efforts on defeating them first, switch back to your single-target abilities, and then follow the marker one more time up towards the Cast Stone camp.
There’s a large axe-wielding enemy in this group, who, for some reason, is also called a Cast Stone, just like all the others. This enemy takes a bit more effort to defeat, but by now, you’ll be pretty used to fighting these types of enemies, and this one offers no surprises.

Travel back to Eloise once the cutscene has concluded to complete the Subquest. Theo will give Clive back the missing Trader’s Pass, and Theo will also give him
The Crimson Compass which will be combined with the Collar he already has to form the
The Collar and Compass curiosity. You will also receive
The Breath of Lightning (Thunderstorm) as one of the rewards.
The next step of the Main Scenario Quest is to speak with Goetz over in the Plaza, but before we do that, there are a few quests to complete:
Bearer of Good News
Optional Quest

“An innkeeper in Boklad asks Clive to deliver the good news to three of his friends about a particularly fine bottle of wine he’s managed to get his hands on.”

Onward to Discovery
Optional Quest

“An excitable scholar of Dzemekian history hires Clive to watch over him while he investigates some ruins near Boklad, then promptly disappears before his newly hired bodyguard can so much as blink.”

Live and Let Live
Optional Quest

“A porter in Boklad has had her packs ransacked and seeks someone to go after the sellsword whose help she enlisted to track down the culprits.”

There are no additional Hunts to complete at this time, and you will not have earned enough Renown for the next reward tier after completing these quests. Make your way over to Goetz in the Plaza of Boklad and speak to him to move forward into the next part of the story (after a bunch of cutscenes).

You’ll have to select The Crystalline Dominion from the world map to continue.
