There are no particular strategies required to take down a Xiphos. They do a fair bit of damage, but any of your characters can take them down with a few regular attacks. They are susceptible to Darkness, so consider using 
Dark Attack on it to take it out more easily. You can also use Auron’s 
Threaten ability to freeze Xiphos.
