Cut from the Cloth

This page provides an overview of how to complete the Cut from the Cloth Optional Quest.

This quest becomes available after you complete the Fire and Ice Main Scenario Quest.

Quest Giver and Location

You can find Hortense, the Keeper of the Stores, in the center of the Hideaway near the lift. She will provide you wiht the Handwritten Receipt key item.

Quest Details

Travel to the Northreach Obelisk and look for the Draper in the markets here outside of the castle. She will inform Clive that the shipment of linens was due to arrive by caravan from Boklad days ago.

Travel to the Caer Norvent Glorieuse Gate Obelisk and switch to your single-target Eikonic Ability Set. You can use your Chocobo to run to the Optional Quest Marker , but it’s only ~100 yards away, so it’s just as easy to run there on foot.

Speaking to the Traveling Trader in Glorieuse

After a short cutscene involving the Traveling Trader, you’ll be thrown into battle against “Killer.” This enemy is similar to the other axe-wielding mini-bosses you’ve faced leading up to this point, and it shouldn’t present much of a challenge, especially against some of your more potent single-target abilities.

Defeating Killer in order to recover the Bundle of Cloth

Go back and speak with Hortense to give her the Bundle of Cloth to complete the quest. She will ask Clive what type of cloth is most to Clive’s liking, and you’ll have the following options to choose from:

“Black embroidered linen.”
“White continental silk.”
“Lush red velvet.”

It does not matter which option you select, as it merely changes the color of a key item that Jill gives Clive later on in the game. They will be:

Linen Kandkerchief if you selected black
Silken Kandkerchief if you selected white
Velvet Kandkerchief if you selected red

To reiterate, it does not matter which color you select, as this curiosity serves no purpose. It does not appear as a curiosity in the Wall of Memories nor does it impact any Achievements/Trophies.

You’ll also receive either the Linen Kandkerchief, Silken Kandkerchief, or Velvet Kandkerchief later on in the game as noted above.
