The Root of the Problem

This quest becomes available after you complete the Fire and Ice Main Scenario Quest.

Quest Giver and Location

You can find Nigel, the Head Botanist, in the northern Backyard section of the Hideaway.

Quest Details

Travel to the Martha’s Rest Obelisk and head to the west side of town. Activate the lift to head down to the ground below the cliffs and then jump on your Chocobo. Use the map to find your way over to the Optional Quest Marker and defeat the group of Goblin Gardeners and the Gigas Ploughswain. These are enemies you have already faced before that shouldn’t present any real challenge.

The Morganbeard can be found littered around the ground in this area. Gather three of them to complete the quest, and then head back to the Hideaway to speak with Nigel.

The Morganbeard Extract increases the potency of Clive’s potions. Potions and High Potions will heal more HP, while Stoneskin Tonic, Strength Tonic, and Lionheart Tonic will each last longer.
