CommSpheres - Wave 2

Reiterating the note from the previous page, Wave 2 of the CommSpheres consists of videos that you can watch after the initial 4 but before you head to the Moonflow to visit Tobli. Speak to Shinra and ask to view the CommSpheres, and a whole host of new content becomes available.

If you selected the “Youth League” when you returned the “Awesome Sphere,” the soldiers will shoot at the CommSphere on your first visit, and it will go dark with no further scenes playing. On the New Yevon path, the sphere survives and plays a set of scenes on the Highbridge instead.

* Note that you don’t need the 0.2% Story Completion Percent from the New Yevon pathway if you selected the Youth League pathway. In fact, this 0.2% extra that you get for selecting New Yevon doesn’t make up for all of the Percent you lose by not selecting the Youth League.

Note that all of these scenes involve Clasko interacting with a Chocobo at the Ranch. Without a captured Chocobo, these scenes still play with Clasko alone, but the conversation that counts toward Story Completion never triggers.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of scenes to watch here at the Hot Springs, and they take forever.

  • Note: This scene will play out differently if you did not catch a Chocobo in Chapter 3. Clasko will be by himself.

You may have noticed that the Mi’ihen Highroad was skipped, and that was intentional. Unlike the scenes so far, the Mi’ihen sequence is interactive from start to finish, and while it isn’t hard, you can still mess it up. Save your game at the Save Sphere IconSave Sphere before you begin.

Mi’ihen Highroad

Zoom in on the door to the Travel Agency after activating the Mi’ihen Highroad CommSphere and offer to help Rin with an investigation he’s conducting. This task helps Rin track down suspicious activity across the Mi’ihen Highroad. The camera sequence you follow here decides who Rin names as the culprit in Chapter 5. This guide’s steps steer the verdict to Rikku, which preserves the Episode Complete and earns the Gold Accessory IconRagnarok accessory, one of the best in the game.

You’ll need to complete each of these tasks in order. It’s very easy, but make sure you complete each task as listed. Press PlayStation R2 ButtonXbox RT ButtonNintendo Switch R Button to switch to a different CommSphere, and press PlayStation Circle ButtonXbox B ButtonNintendo Switch A Button to call Rin over to investigate.

Phase 1

LocationActionScreenshot
Ruins (3)A Machina will appear from behind the ruins. Call Rin over after it stops moving, and he’ll notice footprints on it.
Newroad (4)Pan to the crowd of people and call Rin over to investigate. He’ll note that there markings indicating that something fell into the ravine.

Phase 2

LocationActionScreenshot
Hover Crash Site (5)Machina will surround the crashed ‘hover.’ Call Rin over after they do, and he will discover a wounded man in the brush.
Shinra’s CommSphere (7)If you were able to drop down into the gorge and saw the cutscene of Rikku dropping into the gorge, Rin will find something here. If he does, proceed directly to Phase 3. Otherwise, he will say he sees nothing out of the ordinary, and you can continue with the next section, Phase 2.
Travel Agency, Front (1)Wait for a Chocobo Eater to run past, chasing a bird, and call Rin over once you see it.
Travel Agency, Back (2)Wait for a woman in a light green robe to approach the computer console. Call Rin over once you see her staring at it.
Newroad (4)Pan to the right, and a hover will drive past with a Chocobo Eater chasing it. Call Rin before the Chocobo Eater gets too far away.

Phase 3

LocationActionScreenshot
Travel Agency, Front (1)Pan to the left and look for Rin. Press PlayStation Circle ButtonXbox B ButtonNintendo Switch A Button to trigger his investigation.
Travel Agency, Back (2)Pan up to the roof of the Travel Agency to see a man on the roof. Press PlayStation Circle ButtonXbox B ButtonNintendo Switch A Button to call Rin and the man will fall off the roof.

After this last interaction, Rin will say “I will handle the rest of the investigation and think more on this evidence,” which marks the end of this sequence at the Mi’ihen Highroad. Assuming you followed all of the steps properly, you should automatically be returned up to the Celsius (and something has gone wrong if this doesn’t happen).

You’ve completed all of the steps required for the “Mi’ihen Mystery,” but the results of Rin’s investigation won’t be revealed until the next chapter. In the meantime, your next destination is the Moonflow. Speak to Buddy, and it should pop up as a Hotspot.
