Fiend Tale Bonus Usage

At the end of each chapter, you’ll see a notification appear on the screen that reads “Gullwings obtained a Fiend Tale Bonus!” This bonus has to do with the “Fiend Tales” that you can watch inside the Creature Creator. A creature’s Fiend Tale runs up to five chapters, and every Fiend Tale Bonus advances it by one. Not all creatures have the full five, so how far you get depends on which ones you have captured.

But since you’re getting this “Fiend Tale Bonus” at the end of each Chapter, it makes sense to capture some fiends early to take advantage of the bonus, because once you reach Chapter 5, there will be no more easy bonuses to obtain. The only bonuses you can obtain will be through winning the Tournament Cup. The only way to obtain Story Levels at that point is to level up each creature manually or win tournaments; still doable, but not as quick and easy as the “Fiend Tale Bonus!”

So which creatures should you capture? You can check out the Creature Creator section using the link at the bottom of the page, but in the next section you’ll find a list of creatures that are worth capturing in Chapters 1, 2, and 3 (early on in the game). These are the three creatures you should focus on.

Specifically, you’ll want to focus on trapping creatures that have what’s called a “Fragment of Fayth.” Instead of unlocking different stories, these creatures will unlock an Aeon that you can battle in the Fiend Arena.

Chapter 1

The Flame Dragon is the first critical creature to capture because it becomes extremely difficult to trap once you reach Chapter 5. It’s also fairly difficult to catch and may require a few attempts, so save your game at the Save Sphere first so that you don’t waste all of your Trap Pods. You’ll need to use a “Trap Pod L” to capture it. Use the link above for more tips and tricks on capturing one.

Flame Dragon is used to unlock Ifrit in the Fiend Arena, though you’ll have to release the Flame Dragon (and the creatures mentioned below) to unlock each Aeon.

Chapter 2

In the second chapter of the game, after you’ve completed the events at the Moonflow, you can attempt to catch a Flan Blanco at the Moonflow. Use a Trap Pod S or SP to capture it. This is the most critical creature to capture and level up. Unlocking its “Fragment of Fayth” will give you access to Shiva in the Fiend Arena, and repeatedly battling her is a great way to Power Level Your Characters.

Chapter 3

Finally, in Chapter 3, you can capture a Mycotoxin in the Mi’ihen Highroad location. Use a Trap Pod S or SP to capture it. You can use Mycotoxin to unlock Valefor in the Fiend Arena.
