Tonberry Area

The “Tonberry Area” doesn’t have an official name, but this is what the Tonberry’s Treasure achievement/trophy refers to it as, so this guide will reference it in the same way. In short, you can reach up to 20 secret floors using a Find Secret Rooms Folio, and if you reach the right subset of rooms, you’ll be transported to another secret room full of Tonberries, which is where you want to end up.

Players report that you can get to the Tonberry Area as early as Floor 41, but completing this process serves a few purposes:

• It gives you more time to assemble three Find Secret Rooms Folios and two Save Memo Folios,
• Your character will gain more experience and be able to deal with the Tonberry enemies more easily, and finally…
• Based on player testing, the odds that the Find Secret Rooms Folio takes you to the right place seem to increase the higher you go up the tower (though not fully proven).

So you’ve reached Floor 61, you have three Find Secret Rooms Folios, two Save Memos, AND you saved your game when you ascended to Floor 61. If you forgot to save your game when you arrived at Floor 61, clear out Floor 61, use a Save Memo (hopefully you have an extra!), and then begin this process on Floor 62.

First Steps - Regular Grey Stone Rooms

Begin by reading one of the Find Secret Rooms Folios. You can clear Floor 61 and gather any Dresspheres, Items, and Accessories if you want, but you may have to reset your game if you get unlucky, which will waste all this effort. It’s up to you, but use a Folio to create a “Teleporter,” and then use the teleporter command that says “go to secret room.”

You might be transported to quite a few rooms, and which one you end up in is completely random. There are two broad categories of rooms, though:

• Rooms with a bunch of enemies
• Rooms with a bunch of Regular Grey Stones

You’re looking for a room with a bunch of Regular Grey Stones. If you wind up in a room with a bunch of enemies, like the one shown in the screenshot below, reset your game:

As mentioned above, look for a room with a bunch of Regular Grey Stones. There are three different Regular Grey Stone Rooms: one where the stones form a circle, one where they form an X, and one where they form a Triangle. Once you arrive in one of these rooms, make sure you only attack and destroy the Regular Grey Stone in the middle of the formation.

Double-check, triple check even, and make sure you only attack the stone in the center!

You’ll have to complete this step three times. Defeat the stone in the middle, use the elevator, save your game using a Save Memo, activate another Find Secret Rooms Folio, and hopefully reach another Regular Grey Stone room.

You need to reset your game each time you wind up in the wrong room. Reload your game from your last save file and slowly work your way through the O, X, and △ rooms.

Rewards

As you clear each room, you’ll get a Restart Guide Folio from the first room, a Tidying Up Folio from the second room, and a The Dressmaker Folio from the last one.

Don’t use the elevator in the third room! Make sure you wander forward into a connecting room to find the Copy Techniques Folio. This is an incredibly powerful Folio that lets you copy an item. You can use this Folio to copy your primary Dressphere and then copy it again. So if, for example, you have a Level 25 Gun Mage Dressphere, you can copy it once to create two Level 25 Dresspheres that you can combine into a Level 50. You can copy that Dressphere again to create a maximum Level 99 Dressphere. This will be an incredibly overpowered primary Dressphere!

Alternatively, if your primary Dressphere is already high level, such as level 35 or higher, you can copy your primary once and then use Copy Techniques on one of your secondary Dresspheres. It’s up to you!

Make sure you don’t leave without picking up this really powerful item! The last reward you’ll receive… if you can call it that, is a Gold Stone to destroy. Destroying it will automatically transport you to the Mega Tonberry room.

Mega Tonberry Room

In the last room, you’ll face four Mega Tonberries and one regular Tonberry. The Mega Tonberries can cast Damnation, which causes the “Doom” status effect, so make sure that you have Doomproof active for this fight.

The Mega Tonberries have 1000 HP, so they usually take a while to defeat, but they shouldn’t deal much damage. Be prepared to heal yourself with your White Mage Dressphere or a healing Folio if necessary.

Defeating all four Mega Tonberries reveals a final accessory you can pick up called the Sniper Cuffs. Picking up the Sniper Cuffs will trigger an Achievement/Trophy:

Other Secret Room Treasures

Completing the three Regular Grey Stone rooms also unlocks a treasure in three other secret rooms, so if you have extra Find Secret Rooms Folios, they’re worth using:

• The Circle room unlocks a Level 15 Lady Luck Dressphere in the room with four Hexapods and an Elder Zurvan.
• The X room unlocks a VIP Card in the room with four Bascinets.
• The △ room unlocks a Dress Fusion Secrets (9) Folio in the room with six Cactuars and two Flan Palidos.

Returning to the room just before the Tonberry Area with another Find Secret Rooms Folio can sometimes turn up a second Copy Techniques Folio as well.
