The Temple of the Ancients is a pyramid located on an island off the southwest side of the eastern continent. That’s a confusing mouthful, so use the map below to help you find it.
The story leads you through the Temple of the Ancients after the second visit to Gold Saucer. The team will travel to the Temple in order to beat Sephiroth to the Black Materia stored within. Check out the Temple of the Ancients walkthrough section for more details.
There is no way to return to the Temple of the Ancients after it has shrunken down so make sure that you grab all of the items stored within, including:

Luck Plus Materia
Mind Source
Morph Materia
Nail Bat
Princess Guard
Ribbon
Rocket Punch
Silver Rifle
Trident
Trumpet Shell
Work Glove
As mentioned above, you cannot return to claim these items if you missed them.
