This page provides an overview of how to complete the 
Weird Science Optional Quest.
Unlock Conditions
This quest becomes available after you’ve completed the three “Letting Off Steam” quests during the 
Out of the Shadow Main Scenario Quest.
Quest Giver and Location
You can find Owain, the Engineer, in Mid’s Dungeon at the back of the Hideaway.
Quest Details
Owain is attempting to create something called “alembic,” but he’s missing some of the required materials. Specifically, he needs Clive to help him track down some ‘bomb ash.’
The Optional Quest Marker 
will move to Nektar over at the 
Hunt Board. Speak to the moogle, and a new option will be available to “ask about bomb sightings.” The new billet on the board describes the Bomb King’s location as being in the “Imperial Chase.”
Travel to 
The Dragon’s Aery Obelisk. Note that if this is your first time back here, there is a treasure coffer that you can reach just north of the Obelisk that contains a 
Kestrel’s Beak Braid.
Find the pathway leading out of The Dragon’s Aery and into the Imperial Chase. There is another treasure coffer near the house here (called Heavenhall) that contains 
Black Blood.
Follow the trail leading north from here that leads to an area called “The Crock,” which is where you will find the Bomb King. This battle isn’t too difficult, but there is a separate Notorious Mark page for this Hunt:

“Cursebreaker aiming for the Imperial Chase took a wrong turn into a nearby wood, within which she discovered the ruins of a Fallen airship—and within them, a beast akin to a great ball of fire that chased her screaming from the grove. The soldier later identified the creature in an almanac of echoes, but was firm in her insistence that the “bomb” she saw was near ten times the size of the one depicted therein.”
Pick up the three piles of 
Bomb Ash on the ground and then travel back to Owain at the Hideaway.
