Flan Prince (Muddy Murder)

The section provides an overview of how to track down and defeat the Notorious Mark for the Flan Prince Hunt.
In-Game Description
“Rumor is spreading throughout the southern reaches of Rosaria of a pool of opalescent ooze that has been sighted in the moors and meadows of the region. While it resembles naught but a puddle of strange sludge from a distance, any man or beast that draws too close is met with masses of slimy hands that drag their prey into a gaping, grinning maw. Is this what we want for our children?”
Unlock Conditions
This hunt is available after completing the Capital Punishment Main Scenario Quest.
Notorious Mark Location
Travel to The Auldhyl Docks Obelisk. The Flan Prince can be found to the east of Auldhyl, in the northern section of the Hawk’s Cry Cliffs.

This is another flan-type enemy, and it behaves very similarly to the Red Mousse that you encountered earlier while traveling through Mt. Drustanus at Drake’s Breath, just before the fight against the Flame Lizard. The only difference is that the Flan Prince has a broader range of magical attacks to deal with. Its attacks include:
Physical Attacks:
- Hand thrust: It will reach its two hands into the air and then thrust them forward, attempting to slap Clive.
- Jump: It will slam both its hands down and then lunge forward. It will typically use this attack if you’re too far away from it to close the distance.
- Headbutt: It will lean back with its head before thrusting it forward in Clive’s direction. Its head grows quite large, causing this attack to hit a wider area than you might expect.
- Spinning Hands: Flan Prince will wind up like a top and then spin in a circle, hitting a wide range around its body.
Magic Attacks:
- Lightning Balls: Small, black orbs, similar to the ones that appear when you use
Blind Justice, will slowly drift towards Clive. Flan Prince will begin glowing just as it’s about to use this move, and if you leave some distance for the orbs to travel, they are very easy to counterattack with
Heatwave.
- Firaga: It will summon a large ball of fire above its head before lobbing it towards Clive like a beachball. This is another attack that’s easy to reflect with
Heatwave.
- Blizzaga: A large wave of icicles will drop from the sky outwards from the direction it’s cast. Dodge to the left or right to ensure that Clive is not standing in the areas that are glowing blue.
- Stonega: Orange lights will glow on the ground, indicating a spot that is about to explode. Dodge away from them.
- Tornado: Green lights will glow on the ground, just like for “Stonega,” which needs to be dodged.
Once the Flan Prince reaches 50% HP, it will begin using“Dualcast,” which will cause two of its spells to be cast at the same time (either Firaga/Blizzaga or Stonega/Tornado). The attacks don’t change in any way; it just means there will be back-to-back spells for you to dodge.
It will also gain access to an attack called “Hands Down,” which deals a ton of damage if you get hit. Make sure to dodge as soon as its enlarged hands begin moving. You’ll have to dodge the first slap and the third slap (Flan Prince will reposition itself after the first two).

Next Steps
This is the only Hunt that is available after the conclusion of Capital Punishment. You now have the
Gelatinous Mass required to craft the
Drakeslayer’s Bracelets, but you’re probably missing a
Scarletite. You’ll get a
Scarletite soon, though, so don’t head back to the Hideaway just yet. Instead, continue with the Main Scenario Quest:
