Dozmare

The section provides an overview of how to track down and defeat the Notorious Mark for the Dozmare Hunt.
In-Game Description
“While passing along the trail from Lostwing to Caer Norvent, one of our order was met with a sudden blast of wind so strong that it bent back the trunks of the old oaks, and heard a cry so terrible that he ran for his life. Questioning the locals revealed that this area was the nesting place of the cider griffin known as ‘Dozmare’—a beast much hated for its appetite both for chocobos and for children.”
Unlock Conditions
This hunt is available after completing the events at Auldhyl and Lazarus District during the Black Light Burns scenario.
Notorious Mark Location
Travel to the Caer Norvent River Gate Obelisk if you have it active. It will appear in the Southeastern section of Sanbreque.

You would have had to return to this area following the events that take place during The Hunter and the Hunted, but it’s not a problem if you don’t have it active. The alternative is to travel to the
Lostwing Obelisk and ride your
Chocobo through the Norvent Valley again. This time, either before or after the hunt, ensure you activate the extra Obelisk in case you ever need to return.

Switch to your single-target Eikonic Ability Set before you get too close, as Dozmare will spring from the walls of Caer Norvent once you’re in range.

Battle Tactics
Notorious Mark Battle

Class: XXX
HP: XXX
Dozmare has a standard set of attacks that are relatively easy to deal with and avoid.
Physical attacks:
- Close Range Lunge: Its regular attack is a short-distance lunge that is well telegraphed and easy to dodge.
- Long Distance Lunge: It will launch itself across the screen if you’re too far away from it.
- Aerial Dive: Dozmare will fly high up into the air before diving down towards Clive’s location.
Magic attacks:
- Magic Burst: A glowing orb of green light will begin materializing above Dozmare’s head before it launches it towards you. It can be counterattacked with
Heatwave.
- Whirlwind: Dozmare will fly up into the air, and the ground will light up green with a tornado effect (which is how you can tell this attack is different from Aerial Dive). Get out of range of the attack when you see this happen.
Noble Dive: This attack is similar to Aerial Dive except that a wave of energy emanates from the spot where Dozmare lands, making it a bit more difficult to avoid by getting out of range. Instead, try to time your dodge for right when Dozmare lands, and you can quickly launch a counterattack while it’s recovering.
