Quest Details

First, speak with Blackthorne, and then proceed to talk with Charon. The conversations with them send Clive and August searching for a griffin that appeared on the Hunt Board. This Optional Quest will have you complete one of the optional Hunts.

The Optional Quest Marker will lead you to Nektar, the moogle, standing near the Hunt Board, and if you ask him about griffin sightings specifically, he will tell you about “Dozmare.” The last step of the quest is to complete this Hunt, so check out the Hunt page for more information:

“While passing along the trail from Lostwing to Caer Norvent, one of our order was met with a sudden blast of wind so strong that it bent back the trunks of the old oaks, and heard a cry so terrible that he ran for his life. Questioning the locals revealed that this area was the nesting place of the cider griffin known as “Dozmare”—a beast much hated for its appetite both for chocobos and for children.”

After the battle, Clive will notice an injured man standing nearby—the “Wounded Tanner”. Speak to the man, and he will give you the Treated Leather key item. Travel back to Blackthorne at the Hideaway to complete the quest.

The ship Clive secured from his Uncle Byron is moored safely in the harbor of Port Isolde, waiting to ferry him and Jill to the isle of Drustanus, where Drake’s Breath rises from the Boiling Sea. The two return to the hideaway to complete their final preparations to bring down not only the Mothercrystal, but the Patriarch who saw Jill enslaved and forced to kill for his kingdom.
