Clive
Clive is the main protagonist of the game, and he goes by a few different names as you play through the game. He starts off being called ‘Wyvern’ by his compatriots in the opening chapter, and he’s eventually referred to as “Cid” once you reach the Cid the Outlaw Main Scenario Quest. He’s also referred to as Mythos by Ultima, which has to do with the mythology of the game, and finally, he’s also referred to as ‘Logos’ as well.

None of this is significant, though. The important stuff is that you know how to control him and use his abilities in battle. For that, check out the following pages in the Tips and Tricks section:
Controls

A high-level overview of the game’s controls and some recommended modifications to the controller setup that may make your playthrough a bit easier.
Combat Tutorial

Discussing some of the finer points of combat in Final Fantasy XVI. This section includes tips on advanced combat tactics and tips for mastering combat in the game, going more in-depth into topics that the game sometimes glosses over.
While Clive is technically the only character you can control, you can also issue commands to his companion, Torgal. Check out the Torgal character page for more information:
Clive is also the only character that can trigger a Limit Break. However, this is sometimes referred to as going ‘semi-prime’ or ‘fully-primed’, which actually IS something that other characters like
Jill and
Joshua can do. Check out the Limit Break page for more information:
Limit Breaks

Some tips and recommendations for how to get the most out of Final Fantasy XVI’s Limit Break system.
Most of the characters in the game, like Jill, Benedikta, and Hugo, are only capable of harnessing the power of a single Eikon. Clive, on the other hand, can absorb the essence of many Eikons, and he slowly gains their power as you progress through the game. The Eikon section is full of spoilers, but use the link below if you would like to learn more about the Eikons that Clive will be able to harness as you play through the game:
Eikons

An overview of each of the Eikons available in Final Fantasy XVI as well as tips and tricks on how to use their Eikonic Feats and Eikonic Abilities in battle.
While he initially begins the game as royalty, his appearance changes to that of a Bearer (with a tattoo on his cheek) to that of a former Bearer (wielding the scar on his face where the tattoo was once located). His appearance can be changed at the Arete Stone, but this is more from a cosmetic point of view. You can change his clothes from a very anime-style character to an even more anime-style character!

Ben Starr is the character actor who portrays Clive in the English version of the game. Check out the Ben Starr Wikipedia Entry for a list of other media that Ben has been involved with. Two important ones: he voices Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Dycedarg in Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles.
The remaining information that you learn about Clive and his past is discovered as you progress through the game, and this section is intended to include as few spoilers as possible. Check out the other sections for more strategies and tips for playing through Final Fantasy XVI.
In-Game Description
*Spoiler Alert*
“Dominant of the second Eikon of Fire, Ifrit. Unlike the other Dominants, Clive has the curious power to absorb Eikons from their hosts and wield their strength as his own. The being known as Ultima appears to crave their same power—identifying Clive as ‘Mythos,’ a vessel for power unlimited. However, Clive refuses to surrender himself to Ultima’s will, making of this godlike being another enemy in his fight to build a world where people can live on their own terms.”
