Odin
Odin is Lightning’s Eidolon and he is the second Eidolon you will encounter. She obtains Odin during Chapter 4 - The Vile Peaks (Part 2).
His attacks are Lightning-based (Shocker considering he’s Lightning’s Eidolon, and yes, pun intended…) and he is capable of using the “Zantetsuken” attack which has a long and storied history in the Final Fantasy franchise.

Normal Mode
Odin is a fairly offensive Eidolon who will act as a Commando and
Sentinel. As a result, the best strategy for Lightning to use once Odin has been summoned is to swap between her
Ravager and
Synergist roles. Start with Synergist buffs early and then swap to Ravager to help build up the Chain Gauge.
This is actually exacerbated by the fact that Odin’s attacks basically function like a Provoke, which will serve to redirect most or all of the enemy’s attacks towards himself. He will then use Ullr’s Shield in order to protect himself and he can cast Curaga to heal his own HP, making him entirely self sufficient.

Charging the Gestalt Gauge
Helpful Hint
As a reminder, you can charge his Gestalt Gauge by utilizing the same tactics you used to charge his Gestalt Gauge during the Eidolon battle, namely:
- Yields to those who amass chain bonuses.
- Yields to those who heal the wounded.
It’s usually not ideal to have Lightning healing, so your best bet is to have Lightning go all out on offense as a Ravager to amass chain bonuses as quickly as possible given that Odin can take care of himself.
Gestalt Mode
Just like in other games that include Zantetsuken, Odin’s finisher has a chance to instantly kill any opponent, but you should still make use of the full gamut of his abilities before using his finisher. Thunderfall is a very powerful attack but it should generally only be used if there are a high number (3+) of enemies on the battlefield.
