A Dressphere that provides a less-than-powerful attack and low defenses, but can inflict very heavy damage with its attacks… depending on a roll of the dice.

Overview

The Lady Luck Dressphere is not as weak as it may initially appear. When you first get it, its attacks will seem fairly weak compared to Dresspheres you already have access to, but if you make use of Two Dice and Four Dice and get a lucky roll, you can inflict heavy damage on an enemy. These attacks also work well against enemies with high armor.

You can also Gamble with Attack Reels and Magic Reels, but because these have a half-decent chance to damage your party instead of the enemy, it’s recommended that you avoid using them unless you plan to master the timing of the reels, which is definitely possible with some practice. If you’re good with your timing, you can make sure you always get the combination you’re looking for.

So its strengths clearly don’t lie in its attack abilities (which rely on random luck) or its strong defenses (which those skimpy dresses certainly don’t provide), so why the “B” ranking, you ask?

The Lady Luck Dressphere is best for farming. Not just for farming Gil or items, but also for farming EXP and leveling up your characters quickly. Taking on some of the end-game superbosses requires your characters to have high stats, which they gain through leveling up, and the easiest way to level them up is to rotate your characters through their Lady Luck Dressphere and make sure they have Double EXP, Gillionaire, and Double Items learned.

Double EXP is Not Party-Wide
Helpful Hint

Unfortunately, the extra experience points gained from Double EXP only apply to the character in the Lady Luck Dressphere. You’ll have to rotate Yuna, Rikku, and Paine through this Dressphere in order to keep them all equally leveled.

How to Obtain It

You can earn the Lady Luck Dressphere by defeating Shinra in the Sphere Break Tournament during Chapter 3:

Walkthrough

Luca in Chapter 3 is the Sphere Break tournament. Win three matches and then beat Shinra to claim the Dressphere awarded to the champion.

Alternatively, if you weren’t able to defeat him in Chapter 3, you can find him in the basement of Luca Stadium in Chapter 5 and can re-challenge him there (though the match will be harder).
