Healing
Healing is a point of frustration in Final Fantasy XVI. Many players end up asking the question early on in their playthrough—when do I get the “Cure” spell? When do I get White Magic abilities? When can I get away from this reliance on consumable items in my inventory?
The unfortunate answer to that question is: never.
There are no curative spells in Final Fantasy XVI. There are very few methods to heal Clive as you progress through the game, as the primary method you will be relying on is Potions and
High Potions, but there are a few other indirect methods of recovering HP. But none of them are what you’re really looking for…
Joshua Doesn’t Share
Warning
Yes, Joshua has access to the “Cure” spell during the early sections of the game, and no, he does not share his knowledge of how to cast this spell with Clive at any point. It seems like the power of the Phoenix likes to play favorites, even amongst brothers…

Torgal does have a janky healing ability that you can use in the middle of battle if you remember to press the proper shortcut. This ability will only refill the light green portion of Clive’s HP bar, and it can only be used in battle. For some reason, the ability for Torgal to restore that missing HP immediately disappears as soon as combat ends. Check out the Torgal page in the Characters section for more information, and remember that you can use the ![]() |
