Use Your Loaf

This page provides an overview of how to complete the Use Your Loaf Optional Quest.

This quest becomes available after you talk to everyone at the Hideaway during the Out of the Shadow Main Scenario Quest.

Quest Giver and Location

Travel to The Dalimil Inn Obelisk. You can find Matej, the Master Baker, along the main drag of town.

Quest Details

Travel to The Jaw Obelisk next, and this will take us straight to the baker’s apprentice. However, as you travel along the way, you’ll notice a figure just up ahead along the path.

It is possible to get to the quest destination without facing off against the figure ahead, but since this is one of the Notorious Marks that you’ll want to defeat later anyway, we may as well beat him now!

“Dhalmekian traders are wont to say a prayer for unwary travelers journeying from Dalimil to Drake’s Fang, for there lurks a bloodthirsty brigand—one who appears to be more interested in letting the blood of his quarry than he is in any gil or goods he might plunder from their caravans. If the road is to be made safe again, then at least one traveler passing through the place must not flee, but stand and fight.”

The presence of the Notorious Mark is the only thing that makes this quest difficult. Walk over and speak to the “Preoccupied Patron” staring off towards the crater of what was once Drake’s Fang. Speak to him, and Clive will be presented with three options to respond to his question (“How does a shell of a man learn to live again?”).

Deciding what to tell the Preoccupied Patron

Your options are “Express yourself,” “Remember the good times,” and “Focus on your work.” It does not matter which option you select. Return to Matej in Dalimil to complete the quest.
