Payback
This page provides an overview of how to complete the Payback Optional Quest.

Unlock Conditions
This quest becomes available after you’ve completed the three “Letting Off Steam” quests during the Out of the Shadow Main Scenario Quest.
Quest Giver and Location
This quest is activated by reading a missive called Off the Record. The missives can be found at the
Reading Table in Clive’s Chambers in the Hideaway.
Quest Details
Head over to the Mess and speak with Gaute. You’ll then be tasked with two deliveries.
- Head to the
Martha’s Rest Obelisk and speak with Martha inside the Golden Stables to provide her with the first of the
Star Ruby key items.
- Travel to the
Northreach Obelisk and head inside the castle. Track down Isabelle near the Veil and provide her with the second
Star Ruby.
- Return to Gaute at the Hideaway for your next task, which is to deliver one final
Star Ruby to Charon.

The first reward you’ll receive is a lengthy bit of dialogue and a few cutscenes about Cid, but after that, you’ll receive…
