The section provides an overview of how to track down and defeat the Notorious Mark for the Tonberry King Hunt.

In-Game Description

“Tonberry kings are not of noble blood, nor do they rule over their tribe—they are simply those individuals who have survived long enough to accumulate significant amounts of rancor. Their hearts stained black with rage, these elders tend to be not only the most violent and bloodthirsty of their kin, but also the strongest and most nimble, despite their advanced years. Some believe that one may curse his enemy by making an offering to these kings, but science would suggest this is pure fantasy.”

Unlock Conditions

This Hunt becomes available and needs to be defeated during the Reign of Pain Optional Quest, which takes place during The Rising Tide DLC Expansion.

Notorious Mark Location

This Notorious Mark is located along the Cloak road in a cave called “The Path of Corruption.”

The Tonberry King has some deceptively powerful attacks. In addition to its physical sword swings, which deal a lot of damage, it will also summon magic blasts on the ground similar to Tonberry Hexers. Aside from its regular attacks, there’s one major attack to watch out for:

Everyone’s Grudge: Tonberry King will summon a bunch of “Tonberry Shadowers” at one end of the clearing, which will slowly begin walking towards Clive. If you let them get too close, they will initiate a devastating thrusting-style stab, which deals a ton of damage. Your best bet is to damage them from afar, either with ranged Eikonic Abilities or Charged Magic shots.

“Often is it that letters requesting aid find their way to Clive’s reading desk. Rarer, though, are occasions when said letters are anonymous. Even rarer still, however, are occasions when the aid in question is to rescue an Eikon thought lost for several centuries. This so happens to be one of those rarest of occasions.”
