The Thousand Tomes
Completing the Thousand Tomes is something that most players expect will come naturally as they complete all of the hunts and side quests. The maximum wisdom level makes Harpocrates a “Sage for the Ages,” but, unfortunately, many players run into problems trying to unlock the maximum level. So, how do you do it?
Missing Entries
The entries you’re missing are likely in the “Mysteries of the Realm Section” next to Magitek, and the Continental Accord, etc. The entries themselves include:
- The Ultima Civilization
- The Children of Dzemekys
- The Savior Myth
These entries only unlock after you reach level 8 (or the maximum level).
Steps to Unlock
Firstly, double-check to make sure that you have completed all of the Optional Quests and Hunts. You can reference those two sections of the guide using the links below, or refer to the Alliant Reports.
Optional Quests Section

A list of Optional Quests or “sidequests” in the game, denoted by the green quest markers:
Hunts

““Every now and then, Clive may encounter creatures larger, faster, and more ferocious than most. While flight is always an option, defeating these notorious marks can earn him not only renown, but also rare materials that may be used to craft new gear or upgrade existing items.”

But you’ve likely checked both of those, and you know you’ve completed all the quests and defeated all the Notorious Marks. What now? There are a few common traps and things that players miss that need to be done to complete all of the Thousand Tome entries fully:
- Make sure you’ve spoken to Cyril after you’ve completed the
Duty Undying II Optional Quest. You can talk to him afterwards to receive
The Book of Martyrs, which you need to have received to complete the Thousand Tomes.
- Talk to all of the NPCs around the Hideaway. Some of these NPCs have short cutscenes that play the first time you talk to them, and you need to have seen them all to complete the entries, including…
- Maeve, the bartender
- Jill, who is standing on the balcony in Clive’s Chambers
- Oscar, standing outside Clive’s Chambers
