Carving Out a Niche
This page provides an overview of how to complete the Carving Out a Niche Optional Quest.
Unlock Conditions
This quest becomes available after you complete the “Follow the Crystals” subquest, which takes place during the 
Riddle of the Sands Main Scenario Quest.
Quest Giver and Location
You can find Sava, the Apprentice Smith, standing right behind L’ubor in the “Briar’s Kiss” corner of the Dalimil Inn.
Quest Details
Sava has been tasked with creating a knife that “embodies the spirit of Dalimil.” The first step is to speak with two of the townspeople right here in Dalimil.
The first one can be found nearby. The Flesher is standing behind a counter along the main walkway. The second one can be found near the exit in the southeast corner near the Shop.
Head back to the Briar’s Kiss to give an update to Sava. The Optional Subquest marker will move to the center of the Velkroy Desert. Hop on your 
Chocobo and head out there to find Sava speaking to one of the vendors. The next step is to go collect limestone just through the South Gate of Dalimil.
Go through the gate and you’ll find three piles of 
Spring Lime and then warp back to Sava to complete the quest.
