Fastitocalon
The section provides an overview of how to track down and defeat the Notorious Mark for the Fastitocalon Hunt.
In-Game Description
“Among republican merchants, reports abound of caravans being crushed by a “black boulder”—a creature indeterminate in nature, but quite decided in size, strength, and spite. He or she who took it upon themselves to seek out and slay this black mass would earn the eternal gratitude not only of the desert traders, but of the Cursebreakers who risk life and limb with every trip through the Velkroy.”
Unlock Conditions
This hunt is available as soon as you begin the 
Riddle of the Sands Main Scenario Quest. In other words, as soon as you enter the Velkroy Desert, you can complete this Hunt.
Notorious Mark Location
Ride your 
Chocobo to the northernmost section of the Velkroy Desert to find the Fastitocalon in the middle of a large alcove.

This Notorious Mark is a large tortoise-like creature, so as you may have guessed, you’ll need to target your attacks towards its head. Hitting its shell will not damage it. This is one of the easier hunts because Fastitocalon has a very limited arsenal of attacks, which include:
- Regular Attack:Fastitocalon will pull its head back and to the side before swinging it in an arc in front of it. This attack is easy to dodge.
- Slam Attack:It will lean back on its two legs before slamming down on the ground in front of it. This attack is also easy to dodge.
- Water Cannon:Fastitocalon will shoot out a burst of water bubbles towards Clive. This stream of bubbles can easily be reflected back at it using
Heatwave, but be careful to dodge the remaining bubbles that aren’t reflected, as it shoots about 10 bubbles in succession. - Spinning Rush Attack:Fastitocalon will slide away to the outside of the battlefield and then rush towards Clive, spinning around in its shell.
- Testudo Trompe:Jet pools will appear around the battlefield that eventually explode after a short period; stay away from them. Additionally, Fastitocalon will fly up into the air and hover over Clive. After a short time, it will slam down to the ground. Make sure to dodge out of the way.
