Note that this page describes the fourth or fifth visit to Rabanastre. This page describes the visit that follows the completion of the Stilshrine of Miriam and the return to Mt Bur-Omisace. You should navigate to the index pages if you have not completed these two sections of the game and make sure to find the proper Rabanastre walkthrough page.
Before travelling to Nalbina, Mosphoran Wastes, the Salikawood or to Archades, there are a number of side quests that you should complete. For starters, you can now complete the Ktjn side quest.
Return to the Muthru Bazaar and speak to Ktjn one more time on the staircase. This time she tell you that she has made her decision and chosen a path. She will not tell you what path, but she will disappear after this brief conversation.
Travel to the Clan Hall and you will find Ktjn in the center of the room doing battle with a pale Bangaa. Speak to her and she will tell you that her decision was to join the Clan. She will give you a reward depending on the answers you provided to each of her questions. The rewards are different depending on which version of the game you have. Her location may also be different if you did not answer all of the questions completely (check the Ktjn side quest page for more information).
If you used this guide, and answered all of her questions correctly, you will receive a Platinum Sword as a reward. This reward was changed to a Rune Blade in the International Zodiac Job System version. A full list of the other rewards that you could have potentially received is available on the Ktjn side quest page.
While you are in the Clan Hall at the conclusion of the Ktjn side quest, you should also speak to Montblanc again. You may be eligible for a few rewards, such as becoming a Brave Champion, for which the rewards are 2 Hi-Ethers and 3 Teleport Stones. You will get a reward for defeating Vinuskar as well which is 1,100 gil.
Make sure that you have picked up all of the current Elite Marks, including Orthros, Trickster, Antlion and Carrot (Priority Petition No. 7).
Return to the Sandsea as well and make sure that you have all read the Notice Board and picked up all of the available Bills. This will now include:
- Bill No. 13 – Vorpal Bunny (Rank III)
- Bill No. 14 – Mindflayer (Rank IV)
- Bill No. 15 – Bloodwing (Rank V)
- Bill No. 16 – Atomos (Rank III)

- Bill No. 18 – Braegh (Rank IV)

Make sure that you purchase Dispel from Yugri’s Magicks and have one of your characters learn it immediately. You can finally begin removing helpful status effects from enemy combatants, which is going to come in extremely handy for the next Hunt which you can complete right away:
Hunt 14: A Chase Through the Woods
Returning to the Golmore Jungle to track down the Vorpal Bunny (Rank III) for one of the Viera in Eruyt Village.
Defeating the Vorpal Bunny is easy, but you should also attempt the other Hunts listed below as well, though they are a fair bit more difficult.
Hunt 15: The Mine Flayer
Heading back to the Henne Mines to defeat the Mindflayer (Rank IV) for the Garifs.
Hunt 06: Lost in the Pudding
Completing a Hunt that you received earlier in the game which involves returning back down to the Garamsythe Waterway.
Hunt 09: A Tingling Toast
Going back to defeat Marilith, a Mark you received much earlier, in the Zertinan Caverns.
Completing these Marks will increase your Clan Rank to Riskbreaker. Return to Montblanc in the Clan Hall to receive another reward which includes 2 Elixirs and 3 Teleport Stones. You should now head to the Clan Provisioner in Muthru Bazaar and make sure that you have Bravery, Faith and Bubble Magick (if you didn’t already) though this has been changed in the Zodiac Age version of the game and some of the spells can no longer be purchased at the Bazaar. There is one more Elite Hunt that you should complete:
Hunt 35: Crime and Punishment
Another Hunt that you normally receive well before it becomes economical to defeat it; returning to the Garamsythe Waterway to defeat Orthros (Rank V).
You can now complete the first portion of the Three Medallions side quest. You need to have the Sluice Gate Key in order to complete this portion of the quest (which can be obtained by defeating White Mousse as part of the Hunt 06: Lost in the Pudding). To obtain the first medallion, you must obtain the Blackened Fragment, the Dull Fragment and the Grimy Fragment.
Head down to the Garamsythe Water and into the Central Waterway Control area. Make sure that all the switches are turned off before you start by making sure that none of the lights are on (as in, make sure that they are not lit up and switch them off if they are). From there, activate the following switches in the order listed below:
- Turn No. 11 Waterway Control on (Close Sluice Gates)
- Turn No. 4 Waterway Control on (Close Sluice Gates)
- Turn No. 11 Waterway Control off (Open Sluice Gates)
- Turn No. 3 Waterway Control on (Close Sluice Gates)
- Turn No. 4 Waterway Control off (Open Sluice Gates)
Once all five switches have been flipped, in the order listed above, you will hear a faint noise of something dropping on the ground. Search the area to the south (across the water) for a shiny object which is the Dull Fragment. This is the only part of this quest that you can do for now.
There is an optional Esper that you have access to – Zeromus, the Condemner. This battle is fairly difficult at this stage of the story as you will likely be under-levelled. This guide will include a walkthrough of obtaining Zeromus later on in the game (namely, once you reach Balfonheim Port for the second time).
It is not recommended that you attempt the battle against Zeromus at this stage of the game but click here for more information regarding this Esper.
It is now time to move on to the next section of the game which takes place in the Mosphoran Highwaste.
