Dalmasca Estersand
Walkthrough

This will either be your second or third visit to the Dalmasca Estersand depending on whether or not you completed Hunt 03: Dalmasca’s Desert Bloom (Flowering Cactoid – Rank I) in addition to having completed the mandatory first Hunt to locate the Rogue Tomato.

You are now locked out of the Barheim Passage, but it is possible to regain entry later on in the game by completing the Desert Patient side quest. You may have already completed part of this side quest if you have been following this guide. Check out the Giza Plains page or the Desert Patient side quest page for more information.

Defeating monsters in the Dalmasca Estersand is extremely easy at this point given that you have a full party and Basch as a guest. Note that the T-Rex looking enemy (Wild Saurian) is still too tough for you to defeat at this point in the game.

There is one additional enemy that you can find lurking about the Sand-Swept Naze called a Nekhbet. The Nekhbet looks like a regular Cockatrice but it is significantly more difficult to kill – nearly as difficult as some of the bosses that you have faced. The only way to make Nekhbet appear is to kill a Cockatrice and then there is a 20% chance that it will spawn nearby.

Nekhbet has nearly 4,000 HP and will have the Protect buff already enabled. Make sure that you are prepared to heal yourself heavily.

There is no where else to go at this point besides straight to Rabanastre, but you can take a shortcut to get there by traveling north to the Banks of the Nebra and then into South Bank Village. There is an orange Save Crystal which you can use to teleport directly to the orange Save Crystal in Rabanastre.

The alternative is to travel south through the Yardang Labyrinth, through the Outpost and south through The Stepping to reach the city gates.

There is a short cutscene that takes place when the party arrives at Rabanastre. Basch will venture off on his own expecting that “the resistance” will find him soon.

Balthier and Fran will leave as well mentioning that they plan to stay in the city for a while. Vaan is on his own once again.
