Airship - Bridge
Talk to Cid to keep the story moving. Move back into the Airship Corridor and speak to Isaaru. Enter the doorway on the left to initiate a cutscene involving Auron and Cid discussing Yuna’s pilgrimage.
Wander all the way to the back of the ship past Isaaru and speak with Rin. Rin will sell you items if you need to make any purchases. Continue down the hallway towards the camera until you reach the back of the ship (identifiable as the one with the Save Sphere in it). Speak to the Al Bhed there to receive four Al Bhed Potions. Go back to the hallway and enter the room on the left. Speak with Dona who is lying on the ground. Dona will ask you:
“What would you think if I said I…I was giving up my pilgrimage?”
If you answer “Sure! Sounds good to me.” Dona will give up her pilgrimage and will be found outside of Djose Temple later on in the game. If you select “Who cares?” you will meet her in Zanarkand and she will continue her journey.
Return to the Bridge of the Airship to continue and speak with Brother up at the helm. He will shout “Father! Yuna! I’ve found her!”. Speak to Rikku and then speak to Auron and then try to leave the cabin to try and leave the cabin for another cutscene. Continue down the hallway past Rin and past Isaaru. You may want to save at the Save Sphere as you have a boss battle coming up.
The boss coming up (Evrae) is known to be the most troublesome and difficult boss in the game for most players. This depends on your play style, skill level, etc. but suffice it to say, the difficult of this boss warrants making extra preparations.
If you have any armor that has the ‘Stoneproof’ or ‘Stone Ward’ ability or the ‘Posionproof’ or ‘Poison Ward’ ability you should equip it to your characters prior to the fight (‘proof’ removes any chance of that status taking effect by 100% while ‘Ward’ reduces it by a smaller percentage).
You may even wish to customize some of your current armor to add these abilities to them. Purchase 30 Softs from Rin if you do not have them in your inventory already to add the ‘Stone Ward’ ability to your armor.
Make sure that Wakka and Rikku are equipped and ready to go as he will be your most useful character during this fight. His attacks will reach even when the boss is at a distance. You can also use Lulu if she is one of your higher levelled characters.
Evrae Guardian Wyrm of Bevelle
The mechanics of the fight:
Evrae is a flying wyrm that is fought on the outside of the Airship, Fahrenheit as you are entering Bevelle. You will be able to command Cid throughout the fight and use his turn to either move the ship closer to Evrae or move the ship further away.
While the ship is close to Evrae it will be able to use its Stone Gaze attack which could potentially apply the ‘Petrification’ status effect to your characters. It can also use its Poison Breath attack which could potentially apply the ‘Poison’ status effect. Prepare your characters in advance by equipping armor that nullifies or reduces the chances of these statuses taking effect (listed above).
Cid will be able to use the ships Guided Missiles (Salvos) to do damage to Evrae while it is far away. He can use these attacks a maximum of 3 times and will use them automatically when you are distanced from Evrae.
Start off the fight by moving the ship away from Evrae. Have Tidus use Cheer to build up the teams Strength and Defensive stats. Cheer can be used and stacked a maximum of five times and there will be more than enough time to do this while the ship is far away from Evrae. Have Wakka continue to attack throughout the fight as he can reach Evrae no matter what distance there is between it and the ship.
Evrae’s attacks are fairly weak from a distance so you can pull away from Evrae any time you need to recharge (as well as do some serious damage using the Guided Missile attacks).
Rikku can use Al Bhed Potions with her ‘Use’ command to heal the team and to remove any ‘Poison’ or ‘Petrification’ status effects. You should also use her Overdrive, Mix, to cast Mighty G or Super Mighty G (click on either for a description of the items you can use to cast those moves).
You can also use Slow or Slowaga on Evrae to get in more attacks and make the battle a little bit easier. Just be aware that once Evrae reaches 1/3 of its health it will automatically begin casting Haste on itself. This will negate any Slow status effects that you have cast and if you recast Slow it will immediately recast Haste on itself.
There are quite a few cutscenes at the end of the fight.
Your team will not be thrust into a battle right off the bat once you have landed so take a quick opportunity to heal up your characters from the previous fight. You may want to un-equip some of the armor you had previously used if you had anything on with ‘Stoneproof’, ‘Stone Ward’, ‘Poisonproof’ or ‘Poison Ward’ as you will not be requiring those attributes anymore.
Move forward to initiate your first battle against three Warrior Monks. Take care of the red Warrior Monk in each group first as they are the ones that are capable of inflicting the most damage with their flamethrowers.
You will face your first YKT-63 in the second fight (shown in the second screenshot above). Just be cautious and note that these machina are not weak to Lightning based attacks. They are weak to Fire and Water based attacks instead. Their Thrust Kick attack will remove your characters from the battle permanently so destroy the YKT-63’s as quickly as you can.
You will not make it all the way to the top of the platform before the story will continue. You get to watch a few more cutscenes.
Examine the control panel and ride the stairway down.
Bevelle - Priests' Passage
Move down the hallway and down the staircase to meet up with your team again. Do not forget to grab the Al Bhed Primer vol. XXII lying on the ground. Save your game at the Save Sphere before you continue. Proceed through the doorway to begin the Bevelle Cloister of Trials.
There are a few more cutscenes where Tidus and the team will meet up with Yuna inside the chamber of the fayth. Bahamut will now join Yuna as a new Aeon. There are more cutscenes that follow.
The court is overseen by Kelk Ronso. Yuna will explain what happened regarding Maester Seymour, his father and how he is already dead. She will justify her actions and then the team will be thrown into prison.
