Tidus will now find himself in the waters of Besaid Island.
Before you swim over to the people standing on the beach, swim to the east to find a chest that contains the Moon Crest. The Moon Crest is used to create Yuna’s Celestial Weapon called Nirvana much later in the game. Go talk to the people on the beach to get the story rolling again and, after some quick introductions, make your way over to the west side of the beach to find a treasure chest that contains an Antidote.
Go to the north-east side of the beach to find Wakka standing there. Wakka will provide Tidus with a quick explanation of what Sin is and what happened to the old cities of Spira. Save using the Save Sphere once the cutscene has ended.
Follow Wakka down the pathway and then speak to him the next area. He will direct you to follow him; you can also use the red arrows on the mini-map to make sure that you are going the proper direction. Wakka will push Tidus into the water before jumping in himself. There are a few items that you can find within this alcove. Start by swimming south and you will see a treasure chest under the water. Use the Circle button to dive down and open the chest to receive a Phoenix Down.
Head further east within the water to find another treasure chest that contains a Hi-Potion. Follow the waterway along until you get to another cutscene - Wakka will ask Tidus to join his Blitzball team.
The next scene involves Wakka giving Tidus an overview of his Blitzball tournament history. Make your way to Besaid Village once it has concluded by following the pathway (or by using the red arrow on the mini-map.
Wakka will show you the ‘prayer’ no matter which option you choose. Make sure you grab the treasure chest to the left of the starting area before you go venturing into Besaid Village for a free Phoenix Down.
The next area to explore is the little alcove on the west side of town that is slightly faded out on the mini-map. Wander down there to find three chests collectively containing two Potions, one Hi-Potion and 400 gil. Don’t waste too much of your time exploring the village, however you may want to investigate the Crusaders tent for more information about the Crusaders that Wakka spoke of.
Make your way into the temple at the north end of Besaid Village. Walk towards the statues and the person in the temple will provide Tidus with an explanation of what High Summoners are. You can now leave the temple and head over to Wakka’s lodge. Wakka’s is the middle lodge on the right, shown below.
Speak to Wakka and then choose to take a rest when presented with that option. Tidus will experience some flashback scenes during his rest.
There is now a small computer, pedestal type object in the Crusaders tent which you can use to access all kinds of tutorials for the game. Read through these tutorial sections if this is your first play through of the game as there are some tips and tricks that can be quite helpful. There is also an Al Bhed Primer (volume II) to the right of the desk.
Go back inside the temple to find the priest and Wakka discussing the summoner and the Cloister of Trials. Tidus will ignore the priests directions not to go into the Cloister of Trials. This is the first Cloister of Trials, of which there will be many, which you can now explore. They are essentially a set of puzzles for you to complete.

A few more cutscenes will take place inside the temple introducing you to a few more of the characters in Final Fantasy X.
Follow the group out of the temple and back into the center of the village to watch Yuna complete her first summon. Have Tidus walk over to Yuna once the scene has concluded to have the the two of them introduce each other.
Talk to Wakka to ‘get some rest’ and then enjoy some more cutscenes.
You will wake up inside Wakka’s tent after all of the cutscenes. Do not forget to use the Save Sphere before you continue. Exit the tent to meet up with Wakka and Lulu. Wakka will give Tidus his first actual sword (Brotherhood) which will automatically be equipped.
As you proceed along the trail you will be forced into a couple of scripted battles. The fights offer you an introduction into battle techniques to be used throughout the game. Don’t forget to level up your characters through the Sphere Grid as you progress through the game. You will need these new abilities and additional stats in order to progress through more difficult fights.
Follow the pathway as well as the the red arrows leading the way. The second fight involves an introduction to Lulu and magic/elements. As per Lulu’s instructions, use Thunder magic against Water based enemies.
Walk over to Wakka and you can choose either to “Pray” or to “Just Watch”. Choose whichever option you wish as it has no impact on the game. Save and continue down the pathway until you encounter Kimahri.
Mini-Boss Battle: Kimahri
Start off by using Tidus’ Cheer ability if you would like to make this battle a little easier. Cheer will raise Tidus’ strength and defence abilities. Kimahri is not hard - just continue to attack him and use potions if you need to until you have taken him down.
Continue working your way on down the pathway and going through the tutorials as they occur.
You will arrive back at the beach where Tidus and Wakka first met. Save at the Save Sphere and then head over to the docks. Talk to all of the people in the crowd to receive a multitude of items, including a Seeker’s Ring, an Ether, 400 gil, a Remedy and three Phoenix Downs. Step onto the boat to head on to the next section of the journey.
